The Maker
A life made
by hand.
“We hope that our journals can be works of art that you can pass down for generations — and that you enjoy them as much as we love making them.”
— Kasey Bracken, Founder
Our Story
Kasey has always
made things.
Kasey Bracken grew up with a need to create. His mother taught at a university with a leather workshop — and at nine years old, he used to sneak in just to run his hands over the hides. There was something about the smell, the weight, the texture of raw leather that stayed with him.
His grandfather George recognized that creative drive early. At eleven years old, he sent Kasey to silversmith school in Mexico — and Kasey turned out to be a natural. He came home with calluses, a trade, and a hunger to build something of his own.
At eighteen, he opened his first business at Pike Place Market. For over two decades, he designed and produced jewelry at one of the most famous markets in the world. He learned what it meant to make something people would keep, something worth the price, something with a story.
In 2020, he picked up a piece of leather — and remembered that smell from the workshop when he was nine. Bracken Leather was born. Not as a pivot, but as an arrival.
Today, every journal is hand-airbrushed, laser-engraved, and made to order in Seattle. The Pacific Northwest — the mountains, the rain, the ravens, the ferry docks at 6am — lives in every design. No two are identical. The leather guarantees that.

The Family
Built by hand.
Made in Seattle.
More than a business.
A family operation.
Kasey’s wife, Liberty, is his partner in everything. His son loves to be in the shop — already learning what it means to make something with your hands.
When Kasey isn’t at the stall or in the shop, he’s in the outdoors — the woods, the mountains, the fields of the Pacific Northwest. The same landscape that inspires his designs.
Bracken Leather represents the Bracken family. Every journal carries that weight — not just the craft, but the intention behind it.
